Hyde Square eatery hires new chef

HYDE SQ.—Centre Street Sanctuary, a restaurant in Hyde Square, has hired a new chef, Timothy Hopkins, according to owner Adam Rutstein.

The name Sanctuary plays off the fact that the restaurant is located at 365 Centre St., on the campus of the former Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The restaurant opened last spring.

“We are still going to be bringing you the same high-quality food accompanied with great execution, the latter of which needs to be our focus,” said Rutstein in an email to the Gazette.

Hopkins trained under chefs Steve Johnson of Rendezvous in Central Square and Mark Cina of Stoddards Fine Food & Ale. His other experience includes being chef de cuisine at Local 149 in South Boston and executive chef of Orleans Public House on Cape Cod.

“Jamaica Plain always enjoys what is going on in the local restaurant scene. I hope they enjoy our new chef and all that he will bring to the table,” said Rutstein.
