SMART Team joins forces with JRI

Supporting Multi-Need Families with Advocacy, Resources and Tenacity (SMART) Team, a youth services provider based at 34 Arborway in Jamaica Plain, has joined Justice Resource Institute (JRI), gaining the support of JRI’s broad array of trauma-informed services to better serve at-risk youths aged 13 to 24.

Founded in 2011, SMART Team provides mental health services to youth who are either on the pathway to delinquency or are involved with the state Department of Youth Services (DYS).

“We are pleased to welcome the skilled professionals at SMART Team to the JRI family of programs,” JRI President Andy Pond said in a press release. “We’re looking forward to expanding and complementing the services offered to youths.”

Both JRI and SMART Team clinicians work individually with youth to provide comprehensive services that include trauma-informed therapy and advocacy. The youths often have been exposed to violence in their homes or the community. Clinicians understand their exposure to trauma and work to build trusting relationships with youths to help them achieve future aspirations.

“We’re thrilled to join JRI and offer a broader continuum of services,” SMART Team Program Director Jeff Butts said. “Youths will benefit greatly from JRI’s diversified resources and commitment to social justice.”
