I wanted to thank you for your truly excellent article “Police Spies tracked Occupy JP, Whole Foods protests” (June 6). Only by publicizing these abuses will people attempt to correct them. I have called the Mayor’s Office and the police commissioner and will be following up by sending them your article and demanding the police stop participating in such activities—the surveillance of peaceful and constitutional activities.
You made a very good point that while wasting their time surveilling law-abiding citizens, they did nothing to monitor the Tsarnaevs. If they had, it is likely the bombing would not have happened.
