Suspect arrested in Arboretum sexual assault

ARBORWAY—A suspect has been arrested in a June 25 sexual assault and robbery at the Arnold Arboretum, according Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

The suspect, 23-year-old Ashton Davis, was arrested the following day by the Boston Police Department (BPD). Data from a GPS bracelet that Davis was wearing due to another case helped lead to his arrest. He was arraigned at Jamaica Plain-based West Roxbury District Court and held on $50,000 cash bail. His bail in the other case was also revoked.

According to bpdnews.com, officers from Jamaica Plain’s District E-13 Police Station responded to a report of sexual assault and spoke with a victim who said she was sexually assaulted and robbed at knifepoint in the Arboretum at around 11 a.m.

There has also been an uptick of crime at Franklin Park. Christine Poff, executive director of the Franklin Park Coalition (FPC), said she has heard second or third hand of one incident involving a flasher and another involving a dog walking being verbally threatened. She urged park users to contact the police if they witness a crime.
