Driver in Arborway crash heads to trial

Nikolas Papadopoulos, a 19-year-old West Roxbury resident who caused a two-vehicle crash on the Arborway last year that sent six people to the hospital, will go to trial in March to face a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s (DA) Office.

The trial will be held at the Brighton Municipal Court because of scheduled roadway construction near Jamaica Plain’s West Roxbury District Court, according to the DA’s Office.

According to the State Police, Papadopoulos was speeding westbound on the Arborway on Sept. 6, 2013 when his vehicle jumped the median near St. Joseph Street, began to roll, and collided with another vehicle heading eastbound.

Papadopoulos and his three passengers were all injured in the crash, including a 14-year-old Chestnut Hill resident who sustained brain and spine injuries.

The 33-year-old Dorchester resident who was driving the other vehicle suffered disabling injuries, while a 34-year-old passenger was treated and released.
