Church seeks school tenant

FOREST HILLS—Bethel AME Church is looking for a new tenant to take over the space at 86 Wachusetts St. after the MATCH Community Day School moves out at the end of the school year, Bethel officials announced at a community meeting last month.

Nancy Dickerson, the interim operations officer at Bethel, told the Gazette that considering the zoning and the condition of the building, the church is looking for another school to take over the space.

Bethel is also planning to host more community meetings as new information is available.

“We want to be good partners with the neighborhood,” Dickerson said.

The MATCH Day School, for students in kindergarten through second grade, will be moving to a new, permanent space in Hyde Park for the 2015 school year, MATCH Chief Operating Officer Mike Larsson told the Gazette. The MATCH Middle School at 215 Forest Hills St., which also hosts students in grades 3 and 4, will continue to operate at its location with no change.
