JP nonprofit leader wins fellowship

Wayne Ysaguirre, the president and CEO of the early-education nonprofit Nurtury and a Jamaica Plain resident, has been awarded a fellowship from the Barr Foundation.

It is Ysaguirre’s fourth time being named to the fellowship program since 2005. Formerly known as Associated Early Care and Development, his South End-based organization changed its name this year.

Nurtury operates the Nurtury Learning Lab in JP’s Bromley-Heath Housing development, among other facilities.

The Barr Fellowship includes a three-month sabbatical, the opportunity for global travel, and leadership retreats over three years. Fellows’ organizations also receive financial support for interim management during a Fellow’s sabbatical, and for organizational development.
