O’Malley to run for reelection

District 6 City Councilor Matt O’Malley, who lives in Jamaica Plain, has told the Gazette he will be running for reelection this year.

O’Malley is currently in his second full term, having also served a half term after winning a special election when John Tobin vacated the seat to join Northeastern University. He said he always says that he sees the election as a “hiring decision” for the 70,000 plus voters in District 6 to make.

Asked for what he was most proud of during his tenure so far, O’Malley reeled of a series of accomplishments, including getting funding for the renovation of the Jamaica Plain Branch Library and for a renovation of a West Roxbury park.

“I love my job every day,” he said.
