New Landmarks Commission head is named

Rosanne Foley was appointed last month to be the next executive director of the Boston Landmarks Commission (BLC), according to a press release.

Foley takes over for Jamaica Plain resident Ellen Lipsey, whose employment was ended by the City late last year. The BLC has played a prominent role JP, overseeing landmark designations on such sites as Franklin Park and former Mayor James Curley’s Jamaicaway house.

“I look forward to making use of my background and relationships to honor the unique cultural resources that exist in all Boston neighborhoods,” said Foley, according to the press release.

Foley’s prior experience includes being the executive director of the Fields Corner Main Street organization and a consultant for the Upham’s Corner Main Street organization.
