A two-alarm fire hit the Forbes Building at 545 Centre St. on Feb. 16, according to the Boston Fire Department. The Forbes Building is a mixed-use building with 147 apartments that houses a medical office and many seniors. There was an estimated $100,000 worth of damage from the fire, which was determined to be caused by the careless disposal of smoking material. Marie Jean of the Forbes House said in a recent phone interview that there were no injures and that “everything was back to normal,” except the three apartments that were damaged.
