As chair of the recently formed Boston 2026 Committee, which seeks to bring the 2026 World Cup soccer games to Boston, I would like to disclose an important detail about our bid to FIFA: Most of the soccer matches will be held in Boston 2024 board member John Fish’s and board chair Steve Pagliuca’s back yards.
Until now, Fish and Pagliuca have been unaware of this plan, but at the public meetings and breakout sessions which will be held in the near future, they will have an opportunity to discuss mitigations (horticultural improvements and traffic redesign) that can minimize the inconvenience to their neighborhoods.
