Holidays in JP: Tree lightings slated for Dec. 5

The “Mayor’s Enchanted Trolley Tour & Tree Lighting” will be coming to Jamaica Plain on Dec. 5, according to a press release.

“We are fortunate in the City of Boston to have a community that celebrates its cultural diversity, but also comes together to unite behind common ideals—love of family, friends and community,” said Mayor Martin Walsh, according to the press release. “The trolley tour and tree lightings are great ways to continue to foster the spirit of community and bring a little extra joy to people around the holiday season. We look forward to visiting different neighborhoods throughout the city for a weekend full of fun and celebration.”

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event.

The trolley will stop at several locations citywide from Dec. 4 to Dec. 6. On Dec. 5, the trolley will stop at Monument Square at 2 p.m. before traveling up Centre Street to Hyde Square at 2:45 p.m.

The Trolley Tours was a favorite event for late Mayor Thomas Menino, who held his final holiday go-round in 2013 before leaving office.
