Jackson Sq. Site III approved

The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) during its Aug. 11 meeting approved Site III of the Jackson Square redevelopment.

The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC) with their partner The Community Builders (TCB) are the developers for the Site III project.

About 11 acres of land in Jackson Square are being redeveloped by a team that includes Mitchell Properties, JPNDC, TCB and Urban Edge. TCB and Mitchell Properties have completed the first phase of the redevelopment at 225 Centre St. The overall redevelopment has moved slowly over decades of planning and funding bumps.

Site III is vacant land situated roughly between the Orange Line corridor, Amory Street, and Centre Street. Two buildings are slated to be built at the site. The 25 Amory St. building will include 44 affordable-housing rental units, while the 250 Centre St. building will be a mixed-income, mixed-use development to include 100 rental apartments.

The $62,600,000 LEED Silver certifiable project will span 150,650 square feet and create 113 construction jobs.

The project plan also includes a park with bicycle and walking paths, a public plaza with seating, and several lawn areas across from the Jackson Square T station.
