Letter: Protect mother earth

I know that many of your readers, like me, have been reeling from the election results of Nov. 8.  More than ever, we all know that it is time for us to take action to protect those who feel threatened by the rhetoric of the winning candidate. And it is time to step up to protect everyone’s home, our mother earth. The movement to renewable energy and away from fossil fuels is ever more urgent. I have joined Boston Climate Action Network (BostonCAN) and invite all of you to join the kickoff of a new BostonCAN campaign to bring renewable energy to everyone in our city.  The City can hire an energy broker and buy more renewable electricity for all Boston ratepayers, and dramatically lower its carbon footprint! We can get more renewables without extra cost because of the power of bulk buying. Other cities in Massachusetts have done this with success. Let’s join them!

To learn more and to get Boston moving come to the campaign kickoff on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7:15 p.m. in Jamaica Plain at the First Baptist Church, 333 Centre St.
