No decision on DCR’s dog park

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has not made a decision about its proposal for a dog park in the Southwest Corridor Park, according spokesperson Mark Steffen.

DCR held a public meeting on April 5 to propose building an off-leash dog park within the Southwest Corridor Park near Anson Street. The plan was met with mixed reviews from the community, since it would be replacing a hockey rink. Additionally, though the park would be on DCR land, its fruition would require community fundraising, as it is not in DCR’s budget to build or maintain such a park.

The public comment period for the proposal ended on April 21.
