On Thursday, May 17, Jamaica Plain residents Patrick Planeta (right) and Santiago Varela (left) helped local nonprofit United South End Settlements raise $425,000 at its annual Neighborhood Gala, held at the SoWa Power Station. Funds from the Gala, which was co-chaired by Planeta and Varela, will help disrupt the cycle of poverty for more than 300 children and their families.
