Police at crime scene say Wednesday murder likely was targeted act

At about 6:51 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for shot spotter activation in the area of 950 Parker St. in the Mildred Hailey Apartments public housing development. 

Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male in his mid-40s suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Boston EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Social media site Live617 reported that initial suspects included known members of the Heath Street gang.

Police Superior Officers at the scene indicated it was a targeted shooting and not a random act – occurring the playground inside the development.

The Boston Police Department is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident and is asking anyone with information relative to this investigation to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.
