Upcoming Events at the JP Historical Society

Book Talk

It is Preservation Month, so we asked our City Archaeologist, Joe Bagley to talk about his new book Boston’s Oldest Buildings and Where to Find Them. Several of the locations featured in the book are in Jamaica Plain. The fifty buildings featured in this book all pre-date 1800 and illustrate Boston’s early history. Tuesday, May 25 at 7:00 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required so we can send you the Zoom link.

Tour Season Starts

For the past 25 years, the Jamaica Plain Historical Society has led a series of historic walking tours in the neighborhood each summer. 2020 saw us make a few modifications to keep everyone safe and the same will be true for 2021. But we hope you will come out (in a mask) to learn more about any one of the seven fascinating locations we tour. Several tours are now also offered in Spanish too! First up: Monument Square on Saturday, May 22.

All JPHS tours are free to the public. Tours start on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. sharp. Our tours last between 60 and 90 minutes and are canceled in case of heavy rain. No reservations are required, just meet the guide at the starting location.

Event Recordings

Missed one of our winter/spring virtual events? Don’t worry, we’re posting the recordings on our website so you can watch them at your leisure. We are so pleased that so many people have been able to participate and we are also glad our speakers are allowing us to post the recordings. Check the ‘Latest Items’ section on their website.
