Wake Up the Earth Festival Set for May 6

The 45th Annual Wake Up the Earth Festival is Saturday May 6 in Jamaica Plain at Stony Brook / Southwest corridor park.

There will be a new Bike Parade for Climate Reslience that is done with support from Bikes not Bombs – this will be gathering at 10 am at Jackson Square, Launching at 10:30 a.m. and heading up Centre Street to the Monument at the corner of Elliot and Centre.

The Main Parade will be gathering at Curtis Hall at 10:30 am and Launching at 11:00 am

This parade has a NEW route this year!

We will be going through the Centre of JP on Centre street, taking a right at Green Street, following Green Street to Washington Street, Taking a Left on Washington through Egleston Square and A Left on Atherton Street to Lamartine Street and Left on Lamartine Street into the Festival Grounds.

Sing Positive, JP Honk and Paige Academy will be leading the opening circle with our festival team.

There will be dozens of art and craft vendors, clothing, jewelry, facepainting, Egleston Farmers Market, Food trucks, Dancing, Music and more.. Zumix is hosting our revived youth stage this year and providing our main sound.

The focus of this year is on Climate Resilience and we are bringing in a project in collaboration with artist Jovielle Gers, Roxana Bentes and others focused on making a pledge to action for climate resilience.

There will also be a ceremony honoring of Mel King.
