The Jamaica Plain Community Centers Adult Learning Program (ALP) proudly celebrated the accomplishments of its students during its 2025–2026 Graduation and Certificate Ceremony, recognizing adult learners for their dedication, perseverance, and academic success throughout the year.
Students received Certificates of Completion in recognition of their commitment to advancing their English language, literacy, workforce, Certified Nursing Assistant training, and educational skills. The ceremony honored learners from diverse backgrounds who successfully completed courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), High School Equivalency (HiSET) preparation, digital literacy, and career pathway programs. ALP serves adult learners from more than 30 countries and remains committed to helping students achieve their educational, employment, and personal goals.
Family members, teachers, staff, volunteers, and community supporters gathered to celebrate the achievements of the graduates and recognize the hard work that each student demonstrated throughout the academic year. Many students balanced work, family responsibilities, and other commitments while pursuing their education, making their accomplishments especially meaningful.
“This graduation represents much more than the completion of a class,” said Dr. Joyce E. Henderson, Director of the Adult Learning Program. “It reflects the determination, resilience, and aspirations of our students. We are honored to support their educational journeys and celebrate the many contributions they make to our community.”
Founded in 1982, the Jamaica Plain Community Centers Adult Learning Program has provided free adult education services to thousands of learners throughout Boston. The program offers learner-centered instruction, career and college pathways, tutoring, counseling, and workforce preparation opportunities designed to promote lifelong learning and economic self-sufficiency.
As the academic year concludes, ALP will pause regular classes for the summer following the end of the program year on June 12. The program looks forward to welcoming students back in the fall and will continue its commitment to digital equity by distributing additional computers to students in August when classes resume.
