JP Porchfest set to return Saturday, August 22

Jamaica Plain residents can look forward to the return of JP Porchfest on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Established in 2014, the annual community-run festival will once again transform local porches, green spaces, and community hubs into vibrant stages for the arts.

This year, organizers are focused on growing the event and expanding it into all the diverse neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain. The festival aims to showcase an incredible range of talent across the city, broadening its featured performances to include everything from spoken word to drag.

To curate the mainstage and porches this year, Porchfest has teamed up with several of Boston’s brightest organizations and artists. The curators include:

• Cakeswagg

• Just Book-ish

• Arts Spark

• Naomi Westwater

• Angel Javier (La Diaspora Combo)

• DGK

• Jacquinn Sinclair

A special highlight of the 2026 festival is the Community Hour, scheduled from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.. In partnership with local artists, this hour will feature "A Reflection on 250," a program designed to recognize the past, present, and future of America.

JP Porchfest is produced by Dunamis, a Boston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing the next generation of emerging artists and arts managers of color. Dunamis centers the visions of BIPOC creators and provides a nexus for community building, advocacy, and professional development. Community members looking to get involved can do so now, as volunteer sign-ups for the event are currently open online.

The event is made possible through the generosity of its sponsors. Top-level Hoopla Circle Sponsors include Sam Adams Brewery and the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, alongside a cohort of local supporters such as Evergreen Eatery + Cafe, JPNDC, Casa Verde, and Trike Hub.

For more information, or to sign up as a volunteer, residents can visit jpporchfest.org or contact the organizers at info@dunamisboston.org.
