Deval Patrick carries a fish into Jamaica Pond alongside JP resident Gerry Wright, in character as Jamaica Pond Park designer Frederick Law Olmsted, during the annual stocking of the pond on April 18. The pond was stocked with 900 rainbow trout, 100 brook trout, 100 brown trout, 50 tiger trout, and several 8-pound salmon, all from state fish hatcheries. Hundreds of children joined in the fishing season kick-off event, along with: Richard Sullivan Jr., secretary of the state Energy and Environmental Affairs office; state Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Edward Lambert Jr.; City Councilor and JP resident Matt O’Malley; and James Hunt, the City of Boston’s chief of energy and environmental services. The pond is stocked several times a year.
