Thanks for hot fund-raiser

Egleston Square Main Street (ESMS) would like to thank everyone who made our Hot Jazz Cool Neighborhood fund-raiser such a resounding success! For the fourth year in a row, we packed the venue—Doyle’s Café—with great people, music and energy and exceeded our fund-raising goals!

The complete list of supporters is too long to list here, but we would like to recognize our key district sponsors: Boston Main Streets and John Hancock and the event sponsor, Boston Neighborhood Network. Of course, the support of Mayor Thomas Menino is critical to our success, and we thank his staff for attending the event.

We also thank state Rep. Liz Malia for her sponsorship, and City Councilors Matt O’Malley and Ayanna Pressley for coming by to have a good time. Steve Branson and his expanded jazz trio put on another great show, and Skippy White was the star of the night as our guest MC. Thank you also to Jerry and all of the incredible staff of Doyle’s for hosting us with generosity and spirit!

We are especially encouraged by the support we received from all over Jamaica Plain and Roxbury and throughout Boston. Merchants, friends and fans from the other local Main Street districts, especially Randace Moore from Centre/South Main Street and Joe Fallon from McCormack & Scanlan Real Estate, were key to pulling this event off. Many merchants, institutions and community organizations contributed money, auction items and time to help make the night a huge success. This collaboration will be critical as all of us work together to survive and prosper during difficult economic times.

The money we raised on April 27 will sustain our efforts to build an attractive, family-friendly business district that meets the needs of the surrounding neighborhood and provides economic opportunities. Thanks to everyone for supporting this important work, and we look forward to seeing you at our Annual Meeting on Friday, June 10 at 7:30 a.m. at Rogerson Communities in Egleston Square.
