Body dumped in Franklin Park

A dead body was reportedly dumped in Franklin Park on May 3 in what the Boston Police Department (BPD) called an “apparent homicide.”

It was the second time in two weeks that a Jamaica Plain park became the scene of a homicide investigation. On April 21, a Dorchester man was shot to death on a Southwest Corridor Park basketball court.

Police found the body of a man along Franklin Park Road, across the street from the Franklin Park Golf Course. BPD had received a report of two men reportedly throwing the body from a brown car on Franklin Park Road, near the Dorchester side of the park. It appears the car was parked at the time.

BPD has not identified the victim or released any other details of the case. It is unclear how the victim died.

The incident came almost exactly two years after the burned body of a Roxbury woman was found in Franklin Park near the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. Rodrick James Taylor, 37, was charged with first-degree murder in that case. His trial was scheduled to begin last week, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Taylor, who has pleaded innocent, is accused of killing the victim at her home and dumping her body in the park.
