STONYBROOK—The tiny Rossmore/Stedman Park will get a $210,000 facelift this fall, probably featuring an improved play area for the neighborhood’s growing tot population.

A Boston Parks and Recreation Department design process for the park at the corner of Rossmore Road and Stedman Street began with a public meeting last week. Two more design meetings will follow between now and June.

“It’s kind of like a dead area in the neighborhood,” said City Councilor John Tobin, noting the call from local mothers for play equipment and possibly a water spray feature. He said many local parents now trek all the way to central Jamaica Plain’s popular Brewer Street tot lot.

A local resident told the Gazette last year that Williams Street alone had at least 12 moms who recently had or were expecting babies.
