While I have no particular interest in whether or not Whole Foods moves into Jamaica Plain, I find I am wondering what other new businesses in Jamaica Plain have been placed under such scrutiny. Why has it been asked to set up an affordable housing trust fund; undertake a traffic study; commit to a local hiring quota; “create a fund to be used by credible local organizations for anti-displacement, foreclosure prevention, tenants’ rights counseling and the creation and preservation of affordable housing”; and expand its plans to provide a salad bar to JP public schools (“JPNC accepts Whole Foods report,” July 8)? The list goes on and on.
