There will be a petition drive to extend the middle-class tax cuts tomorrow at the Ferris Wheels Bike Shop at 66 South St.
Middle-class tax cuts are set to expire at the end of the year unless Congress acts.
“We need the tax break. We can’t be taxed anymore,” said Jeffrey Ferris, owner of the bike shop, in an interview with the Gazette.
Ferris said that there are many challenges to running a small business like his. He said small businesses do not have backup, like corporations do. Ferris also said he is barely in the middle class, but did say he and his wife do OK.
A coalition of grassroots groups, which includes the well-known union SEIU, and the Massachusetts Fair Share, an organization that advocates for a fair economy, is leading the petition drive. The drive starts at 10:30 a.m.
