Obituary: Carlos B. Icaza, community organizer

Carlos B. Icaza, of Jamaica Plain, died August 16, 2014. Beloved husband of Shelley Norton Icaza and best Poppy of Elizabeth Icaza (Giovanni) Poles.  Carlos is survived by Shelley and Elizabeth, his brothers David H. (Jean) Icaza and Peter S. (Mony) Icaza; nephews Jimmy, Robby, Michael, Ethan and Eric; and nieces Melissa and Erinn. Gramps Stephen Cronin. Union carpenter and president of Just Small Jobs Inc.

Born in Hamden Connecticut, Carlos was a reader, thinker, writer, adventurer, story teller, and troublemaker. He built. He cooked. He farmed. He traveled. He enjoyed life.

Carlos connected people and ideas, loved and supported all of his communities of friends and worked hard to make it better for others. He believed in adverbs, his faith, and his dog (not so much the cat). He shared his many gifts and talents. He made a difference.
