After a close to 12-year run at its 676 Centre St. location, Jamaicaway Books & Cafe is closing, the bookstore owners said in an e-mail announcement Oct. 14.

The multi-cultural bookstore hosted regular events and published the well-received children’s book “African American Heritage in Massachusetts: A Coloring Book.” Recently, the owners opened a small soul food restaurant in the store, dubbing it the J’Way Café.

The e-mail announcement did not say when the store will close, and the owners—Brian Sandiford and Rosalyn Elder—were not available for comment by press time.

“We have decided to close our doors in order to spend more time with our family,” the announcement said.
