Stonybrook Neighborhood Association. Next meeting Monday, February 10, 7-9 pm, English High School Library, 144 McBride St. More/latest info: www.sna-jp.org

The Jamaica Pond Association will meet from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, in the community room at the Jamaicaway Tower, 111 Perkins Street, Jamaica Plain.  This is an open public meeting; Pondside residents who would like to take an active role in this neighborhood organization are encouraged to attend and consider joining the association.  There is limited guest parking to the right of the main entrance; the site is a five-minute walk from the #39 bus stop at South Huntington Ave. and Perkins Street.

Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council. The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council (JPNC) will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 28 at 7:00pm  at Farnsworth House, 90 South Street. On the agenda will be reports from the Working Committees. All interested residents are invited to attend.

The Public Service Committee of the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council  will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 4 at 7:00pm  at Curtis Hall, 20 South Street.  On the agenda will be a request of Jamaica Mi Hungry LLC, doing business as  “Jamaica Mi Hungry” at 225 Centre Street for a 7-Day Common Victualler (Restaurant)  All Alcohol License with a 1:00am closing, with a seasonal outdoor patio for 15 seats, and an entertainment license for three (3) TVs, with Ernie Campbell as manager. All interested residents are invited to attend.

Police Community Relations Meeting will take place on Thursday, February 6 at 6:30pm at Curtis Hall, 20 South Street. Commanders from Boston Police Area E, MBTA Police and State Police will deal with all issues of public safety raised by the community. All interested residents are invited to attend..

Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council Zoning Committee:  The Committee’s next upcoming meetings will be February 5. The agenda for that meeting will include 91 Green Street (construct an addition on the rear of the existing house to create an additional dwelling unit and a garage); 3171 Washington Street (new construction of a four-story building with nine residential units and one ground-floor commercial space); and 493 Walnut Avenue (construct new garage addition to new single-family dwelling).  After February 5th, the Committee’s next upcoming meetings will beFebruary 19 and March 4.

Charming Chorus Concerts!

The Greater Boston Intergenerational Chorus, directed by Joanne Hammil, invites all to our winter concert. Our 83 singers from 30 area towns, including Jamaica Plain, will perform an array of music in many styles (contemporary folk, jazz, classical, pop, gospel, multi-cultural, doo-wop), from powerful to humorous to gorgeous, in multi-part harmonies.  Come share the fun and beauty!

The Chorius wil perform on  Saturday, January 25 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Parish of Watertown, 35 Church Street, behind Watertown Square

Tickets: No advance purchase; $10- $20 suggested donation at the door.  Everyone welcome.

Kids on Wheels:  Play and learn, every Sunday, 3  to 5 pm – Ferris Wheels Bike Shop helps kids learn and practice safe riding skills while having lots of fun at the South Street Mall and tennis courts! Free helmet adjustments and free bike adjustments available. Health/Fitness

parkrun is a grassroots, community running event, run by volunteers for the local running and walking community. We hold free timed 5k events every week. Everyone is invited to run, jog or walk for 5k (two laps around the pond). We are very proud to be the first parkrun in Boston, MA. It’s been a very successful initiative for getting people of all ages outside to exercise, and to meet members of their local community. We meet on Saturdays at 8:45 a.m. at the top of the Sugarbowl. Run starts at 9:00am. All welcome, all ages, all abilities.

      Chelsea Jewish Hospice & Palliative Care (CJHPC) is seeking volunteers to offer companionship and support 1-2 hours per week to persons facing terminal illness who reside in Jamaica Plain.  Volunteers can make a difference for patients through activities such as holding a hand, listening to music, running an errand, or even just sitting quietly.
