It is a tough weekend for our vibrant local arts scene. With heavy hearts, organizers have announced that Jamaica Plain Open Studios 2026 is officially cancelled due to the incoming Nor’easter headed for the Boston area this weekend.
While JPOS is a proudly “rain or shine” tradition for our neighborhood, the anticipated heavy winds and hazardous weather conditions have made it impossible to safely host the event. Protecting our talented artists and dedicated patrons simply has to come first.
The decision is undoubtedly disappointing for both the creators who look forward to this annual showcase and the wider JP community that loves to celebrate them. Sadly, because of the complex logistics and the packed schedules of the various group site venues, organizing a rain date just isn’t feasible this year.
But a little stormy weather doesn’t mean we can’t still show up for our neighbors! In the coming days, the community is highly encouraged to pivot and support our JPOS artists from the cozy safety of home. You can still experience the magic by perusing this year’s digital map, which links directly to the 2026 Artist Profiles.
Here are a few easy ways to keep the creative spirit alive this weekend:

While we will miss wandering the neighborhood to admire the incredible local talent in person this year, we can already look forward to gathering together again for JPOS in 2027. The JP Arts Council remains incredibly grateful for the community’s ongoing creativity and commitment.
