Many JP folks crave their cups of coffee and pastries, even—and especially—on the holidays. It’s important to order baked goods for special holiday meals early and arrange a pick-up time then, everyone agrees. The holidays are a very busy time for bakeries.
But, in addition to picking up special orders, what should people do to get their pre-main-meal java and sweets on Thanksgiving day? This week the Gazette asked local coffee shops and purveyors of baked goods what their schedules will be, so people can plan ahead.
Some spots will be completely closed on Thanksgiving, so people need pick up their goodies before. They include Sweet Christopher’s, which just opened this week, as well as Bon Savor, Sweet Finnish, Canto 6 (also closed the day after), J.P. Licks and Java Jo’s.
So, what’s open? Blue Frog Bakery on Green Street will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. And Fiore’s Italian Bakery next to Harvest Market will be serving folks from 9 a.m. to noon on turkey day.
JP claims three Dunkin’ Donuts, all in various places along Centre Street and all open for all or part of Thanksgiving: The one in JP Plaza will be open from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. The one in Tedeschi’s will be open 24 hours, and the Dunkin’ near the Monument, from 5 to 10 a.m.
Many coffee shops and bakeries either don’t know yet or plan to be closed on Christmas Day. It’s a good idea to call or stop in before to find out any special hours (as well as treats) they will have for the December and New Year’s holidays.
