First Church in Jamaica Plain, Unitarian Universalist (UU) saw new Interim Minister Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris begin her two-year term on Aug. 15.
Robinson-Harris is taking over the post from Rev. Terry Burke, who retired in June after 31 years.
“My hope for this ministry is that I will be deeply engaged in building beloved community, using this transitional time to strengthen the community and to explore change,” Robinson-Harris said in a release. “Whatever the challenges and opportunities may be, I hope for a ministry in which I can guide and assist the congregation in preparing for the next phase of its journey.”
Robinson-Harris has lately served as Interim Minister for the First Unitarian Church of Worcester, Mass. She has over 30 years experience in ministry
In his time at 6 Eliot St., Burke built up the congregation from the 35 grey-haired members he met in 1983 over 100 today. He retired to focus on his health after a being diagnosed with serious lung cancer last year.
