The Lash Family is one of three one-million dollar donors to YES’s Capital Campaign for its new headquarters in Jamaica Plain

The group of Boston teen leaders hired this summer by Youth Enrichment Services (YES) through the John Hancock MLK Scholars Program. The teens worked at YES’s Outdoor Adventure Camp program and were treated to an appreciation day at Owls nest resort in Thornton, N.H.

Brian Lash, owner of Owls Nest Resort in Thornton, New Hampshire, has been a longtime supporter of the nonprofit Youth Enrichment Services (YES), which has provided enriching outdoor experiences to thousands of young people throughout Boston since 1968.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Owls Nest Resort hosted an appreciation day for YES teen leaders and staff. The teens enjoyed a day playing virtual golf, swimming in the pool, paddleboarding, and making pizzas. The teens were hired through the John Hancock MLK Scholars Program and worked at YES’s Outdoor Adventure Camp program.

“We are incredibly grateful for Brian’s support and generosity over the years, which have positively impacted the lives of the many young people we serve,” said YES Executive Director Bryan Van Dorpe. 

An avid skier and father who owns a home in Waterville Valley, Brian became involved with YES through the ski community and has served on YES’s Board of Trustees since 2014. YES provides low- to moderate-income children and teens with the opportunity to learn how to ski and enjoy New England’s mountains. The Lash Family is one of three one-million dollar donors to YES’s Capital Campaign for its new headquarters, the Youth Enrichment Services Yawkey Youth Development Center, in Jamaica Plain. The new 16,000 square-foot headquarters is set to open in the fall of 2026 and will feature a rock climbing wall, ski shop, community space and more to support year-round outdoor experiences for young people ages 7-18. 

Founded in 1968, Youth Enrichment Services (YES) offers Boston youth opportunities to experience the outdoors, develop confidence, and build leadership skills through year-round sports-based programs. The organization prioritizes serving low-and-moderate income youth with a focus on young people living in the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Jamaica Plain. All youth at YES are Boston residents and we welcome all young people regardless of race, ethnicity, or economic status.
