The Jamaica Plain Open Studios Artist Registration meeting will take place Mon., May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Footlight Club at 7A Eliot St.
Jamaica Plain Open Studios is an annual, free, weekend-long celebration of the arts where over 200 local artists display and sell their original work from their studio or group sites. This year, Open Studios will occur on Sat., Sept. 29 and Sun., Sept. 30.
Open Studios is open to all artists working, living or showing in JP. Artists from outside JP may also apply for group shows or to exhibit with local artists in a shared space. All artists are invited to attend the meeting; light refreshments will be served.
Planning for the 14th annual Open Studios event is well underway. The registration meeting is an opportunity to register for the event, learn about new developments and exhibition opportunities meet other participating artists, and get questions answered.
Jean Mineo has returned to coordinate Open Studios again. She announced several new initiatives this year, including: an improved web site with online registration and a searchable database to find artists; a new group site at the Central Congregational Church; and a partnership with Nuestra Culinary Ventures at the Brewery site. “We are also in a strategic planning process and want input about how the JP Arts Council can best support artists and audiences,” she said.
Artists may register online at www.jpopenstudios.com or download the registration package and bring the completed forms to the meeting. Registration packages will also be available at the meeting. Visit the website or call Mineo at 943-7819 for more information about the event and volunteer opportunities.
