The 5th annual JP Music Festival will be on Sept. 12, with 22 acts, 2 stages and 7 hours of non-stop local Jamaica Plain music, according to a press release.
The free festival will be held at Pinebank Field at Jamaica Pond and all performers will be residents or workers in JP. Noteworthy performers will include Daniel Winshall and the Walking Illusions, Mike Irwin of Machine Gun Studios and Koliba.
Winshall, 17, is a JP resident who currently has a Monday night residency at Wally’s Café on Massachusetts Ave. and has performed at the Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Irwin teaches music to around 100 students a week, including Winshall, and also produces records in his JP studio. Koliba, led by Berklee College of Music professor Mohamed Kalifa Camara, will present high energy Afro-pop using a unique blend of traditional and modern styles.
Organizations, such as the Children’s Music Center of Jamaica Plain, Hyde Square Task Force and Playworks Boston, will maintain booths offering music activities. For culinary enjoyment, The Bacon Truck, Bukhara Indian Bistro, JP Licks, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese and Taco Party will be available.
