Dr. Christine Luthra, long-time Jamaica Plain resident and healer to many in the JP community, passed away on Aug. 23 in Portland, Me., after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by the support and love of friends and family, especially her two devoted and loving children, Lakshmi and Yannig, who put their lives on hold to care for her for several months. A celebration of Christine’s many faceted and generous life was held in Portland in August. Not only was she a homeopathic healer and mentor and a friend to many, but she was also a poet and a photographer of the natural environment. Her poetry of the heart and the spirit sings of her deep connection to nature and the human community.
A celebration and reading of her poetry will be held on Oct. 21, 7-9 p.m., at the home of Gary Whited and Elizabeth Slayton, 30 Sedgwick St. Open to all. For more information contact: Sandie & Chet Fenton, 524-0788, [email protected] or Gary Whited, 459-7312, [email protected].
