Civil rights are not up for a vote

Pam and I were married on October 10, 2004. Our status as a married couple has given us greater peace of mind and security. As a black woman, it terrifies me to know that my freedom to be a full citizen and to create family has the potential to be determined by the citizens of Massachusetts. Civil rights for the few shouldn’t be determined by the many. I’m thrilled that our legislators rejected the amendment by developing a creative solution to protecting marriage equality.
