Bring wounded soldiers home

The Washington Post recently uncovered the ugly truth that many grievously wounded troops who fought in Iraq are being warehoused in squalid conditions near the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, awaiting treatment and disability ratings which are being delayed or denied for months to years!

A wise talk show listener has suggested that to truly support the troops, we all contact our governors, senators and representatives urging them to bring their respective states’ soldiers home to local Veterans Affairs and/or private hospitals for immediate treatment. They will be nearer their families, and we, their neighbors, can also volunteer to help untangle their paperwork, help them find employment as needed and otherwise assist to thank them for their service and sacrifice.
