Spaces for rent on Centre Street

JP CENTER—Two large retail storefronts just down the block from each other are now available for lease.

The 6,330-square-foot former Foot Locker site at 678 Centre St. and the 2,664-square-foot site at 708 Centre St. now occupied by Countrywide Home Loan are both listed as available for lease on the web site of KeyPoint Partners, a commercial real estate firm.

The spaces are both owned by Joan Canzano.

Lynne Cohen-Friedman, a senior leasing associate with KeyPoint, said she is “inching closer” to securing a deal with a bedding store to move into the former Foot Locker space.

A third space, the 1,975-square-foot storefront that houses Jamaicaway Books, is also listed on the web site as being for rent, but that is a mistake, Cohen-Friedman said.

The owners of the bookstore—the only locally owned business of the three—have “expressed that they would like to stay,” she said.

If anyone saw the listing on the web site and asked her about the space, she said, she would tell them it is not available right now.

She has advised KeyPoint to take the listing down, she said.

Countrywide Home Loan, a national sub-prime lender, collapsed this year and was purchased by Bank of America for $4 billion in July.
