Community Servings won the Nonprofit Innovation Award, one of seven Nonprofit Excellence Awards given by the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network.

Keith Magni was one of 20 recipients of a year-long Fellowship in Science Education by the Boston Science Partnership.

Jamaica Plain was voted the best neighborhood in the Northeast United States by Men’ Journal.

Russell Moore and Petal and Leaf were honored by Mayor Menino for their dedication to JP’s business districts in the annual Boston Main Streets Achievements Award Ceremony.

Marshall Forstein received Cambridge Health Alliance’s Art of Healing Award.

Hyde Square Task Force’s Wavelink Productions released their first full-length album, Crucible.

Ritmo en Accion had their showcase recently, demonstrating a year of work.

Students from the Neighborhood School (ages 5-13) raised $385 for the MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center.

Emmie Chatzimanika received the William C. Van Faasen Community Service Sabbatical, which allows one Blue Cross Blue Shield employee a leave of absence to work for a charitable organization in the community.

Ora Lee Canada received the 2009 Sue Heilman Award for Excellence for her years of service to homeless children and families.

Christopher J. and Elayne Hong Russo had a son, Matteo Song-En Russo.

Margarita Muniz, Principal of Rafael Hernandez K-8 School, won Principal of the Year at the 2009 Boston Public Schools Leadership Conference.

Amy Eiferman and Mrinalini Gadkari have both completed the LeadBoston program.

Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly- Boston, Inc. received $10,000 to support its intergenerational matching program, courtesy of Tufts Health Plan Foundation.

Mt Washington Bank was inducted into the Junior Achievement Boston Business Hall of Fame.

The JP Green House has been given a special series by Grist Magazine. which will chronicle their efforts to meet minimum building code standards. It has also been designated a 350.org hub.
