I just learned that John Ruch, a long-time reporter for the JP Gazette, left over the summer. While I disagreed at times with his description of events that he reported on, I felt he was always willing to listen to another point of view and sometimes include it in his reporting. Also, it was very nice to know that an article written by John would never contain errors in grammar, punctuation or spelling.
So, if I were speaking to him right now, I would say, “John, it’s been a pleasure to know you. I’m sure you will be an excellent anything you choose, as you showed yourself to be an excellent reporter.”
