Ethiopian eatery coming to Hyde Sq.

HYDE SQ.—A new Ethiopian restaurant, Blue Nile, is coming to Café Velouria’s old home—389 Centre St.—in Hyde Square in mid-April.

Ellena Haile, the owner and Jamaica Plain resident, told the Gazette this week that Blue Nile will be focusing heavily on vegetarian and vegan dishes, though carnivores will still be served.

“We’re definitely going to add a new cultural dimension,” Haile said. “Hyde Square doesn’t have a lot of restaurants that focus on [vegetarian and vegan food].”

Haile noted that there are very few Ethiopian restaurants in the state and that this will be the only Ethiopian eatery in JP.

“We’re so rich in culture and diversity,” Haile said. “It will just be one more choice for people.”

Blue Nile will be open for lunch and dinner, Tuesdays through Sundays.
