FOREST HILLS—The design team for the Casey Overpass replacement project presented three at-grade design sketches and twin bridges sketch already discussed in previous Working Advisory Group (WAG) meetings at a June 29 community meeting held at English High.

Audience suggestions focused on other areas included a pedestrian overpass over Shea Circle at the eastern end of the overpass, and a vehicle tunnel for Route 203 traffic under Shea Circle. Concerns over the possible high number of traffic lights around Shea Circle and about traffic in the area were also voiced.

The current project schedule includes: coming up with three alternatives by August and deciding on a final replacement concept by October; designing the plan from then into 2013; then demolishing the overpass and building the replacement by June 2016.
