Gordon Gano, the singer/guitarist of the 1980s hit band Violent Femmes, will perform in the Jamaica Plain Music Festival on Aug. 20.
The JP connection? Gano’s sister lives in JP, and he has performed previously at the Midway Café, according to festival spokesperson Charles McEnerney. The Violent Femmes were known for such hit songs as “Blister in the Sun.”
The festival will run 1-7 p.m. at the Pinebank ballfield in Jamaica Pond Park at Perkins Street and the Jamaicaway. For a preview of a song from each band in the fest, see soundcloud.com/jpmusicfestival. The full line-up of 22 JP bands includes:
