Q Salon and Spa will open in late fall at 676 Centre St., in the space formerly occupied by Jamaicaway Books.
It will offer massage services and other spa services like facials along with nail services, owner Jennifer Lydon told the Gazette.
“It will be a Newbury Street type of salon with JP service,” she said. “It won’t have that aloof feeling.”
It will also accommodate all kinds of hair—“Black, white, Latino,” Lydon said.
“You should not need to leave your neighborhood to get your hair done,” she continued. “What you see out on [JP] streets is what you’re going to see inside my salon.”
Lydon said she is hoping for an opening date around November or December, and may add more services after the salon opens.
“I’ll have to see how things go,” she said.
Lydon has been working with hair “more than half my life,” she said.
“I’ve been really looking forward to this…This is my life-long dream,” Lydon said. “If I could move to JP, that would be ideal.”
