HYDE SQ.—After an unplanned eight-month closure, Tacos El Charro at 349 Centre St. reopened last month.
The popular Mexican restaurant, located between Hyde and Jackson squares, closed last December for what owner Aida Navarro expected to be a couple of weeks because of “personal and financial troubles.”
But by the time she was ready to reopen, Navarro said, she needed to re-file license paperwork, which took time.
Navarro said the Tacos team is ready to work.
“We need to keep going. We need to work. A lot of people from the community were coming by [while we were closed], leaving us notes that they wanted us to come back,” she said. “People who know we’re open are coming by. They’re excited. They’re showing us a lot of love.”
