No light display at mansion

The famous—and often infamous—Christmas light display at an Arborway mansion is not happening this year.

“No, I’m just not going to do it,” said Dominic Luberto, who for years has covered his 61 Arborway home in thousands of dollars in lights. “Next year. I’ll do it next year.”

Luberto has gained international attention for the display, which once included a giant, light-covered wooden crown atop the house. An Irish TV producer contacted the Gazette about the lights earlier this month. The mansion itself is a whimsical structure known as the Castle for its prominent tower.

The display has drawn the wrath of neighbors for lines of spectators parked in the street and for the intense glare of the lights.

Luberto declined to say on the record why it is lights-out this year.
