The Green Line cuts come just in time to not service roughly 400 luxury apartment units coming to S. Huntington Avenue in the next few years. The apartments clearly are aimed at the doctors and grad students in the LMA and local universities so easily accessed by the streetcar, which won’t run on weekends anymore.
Perhaps the apartment-dwellers can simply purchase their own private Pullman car version of a streetcar, complete with a Jacuzzi in the back.
More likely, they’ll avoid the 39 bus and drive lots and lots of private vehicles. A study will show that will have absolutely no impact whatsoever on local traffic.
As for veterans going to the VA hospital and seniors living on the Back of the Hill—well, maybe their new doctor neighbors will make house calls.
