JP man shot to death in home

FOREST HILLS—A local man was shot to death in his Hyde Park Avenue apartment on April 27.

The Boston Police Department (BPD) has not announced any suspects or motive in the killing of Mariano Malave, 25, of 132 Hyde Park Ave.

“He was a nice guy. He had a lot of charisma,” said property owner Bridget Lacey about Malave in a Gazette interview.

She said she did not know much about Malave and did not respond to a question about how long he had resided in the apartment before she ended the brief interview.

“The police have told us nothing” about the killing, said Lacey, who lives in West Roxbury.

Police responded to a call of shots fired around 6:30 p.m. and found Malave suffering from a gunshot wound, according to BPD. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about the killing can contact BPD Homicide Unit detectives at 617-343-4470 or anonymously by calling 1-800-494-8477 or by texting the word “TIP” to 27463.
